Emily Smith is an attorney licensed in Texas and California who joined the firm in August of 2016. The majority of Ms. Smith’s work is with the firm’s probate practice, with a particular focus on estates with personal injury claims. Ms. Smith guides her clients in navigating the special requirements which must be met during the probate process in order to help bring the estate’s personal injury claim to a successful conclusion.
Ms. Smith, who was born and raised in Dallas, received her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While attending USC, Ms. Smith clerked for South Carolina Legal Services, where she assisted low-income clients with various probate and family law issues. After graduation, Ms. Smith gained admittance to the State Bars of both California and Texas, practicing family law in California before returning to Dallas and shifting her focus to probate law.
